About Bab Boujloud

The most important step you ever make when visiting the old medina of Fez is first going by Bab Boujloud. Since it is one of the most well-known places, and let's say it is basically  the entrance to the heart of the fascinating masterpiece of the old Medina. historically its construction goes back to the year of 1913, for ages this gate has been playing a vital role in attracting tourists from different nationalities as well as a great navigation point for visitors trying to find their ways through its narrow alleys.

Standing for a few moments in front of this outstanding historical masterwork will definitely please you, particularly with its Mauresque-Andalusian style, its glittering mosaic tiles and the archway. As you scrutinize into the main archway, you will notice a stork’s nest on the top of the minaret of Sidi lazzaz mosque and next to it there is a small minaret that belongs to the Bou Inania Medersa.

To find out more about the beauty and the uniqueness of the place, it is recommended to have a cup of the famous Moroccan tea with mint, either at the cafes in the beautiful alleys surrounded by handcraft shops or at the top of their roofs while eying locals and tourists passing by as they try to find their ways through the busy streets of the old Medina .
